Maternity Therapies

Maternity Reflexology | £40.00 p/h

Maternity Reflexology is a branch of reflexology aimed specifically at women during pre-conception, pregnancy, labour and the post-natal period. During your pregnancy, your body will go through significant changes; these changes will affect the emotional, hormonal and physiological balance of your body. Reflexology can help to alleviate or prevent discomfort arising from this imbalance and restore the body’s equilibrium. Research has shown that regular reflexology treatments during pregnancy can shorten the duration of labour, with subjects often requiring less pain-relief during the course of delivery.

Reflexology Priming for Labour

So how does Reflexology help?  There are specific points on the foot such as the uterus and Pituitary that I would stimulate strongly to help encourage the body to naturally prepare for labour. The Pituitary is a good point to start as it’s the part of the brain that produces the hormone  Oxytocin, and this love hormone is what helps the uterus to contract.  I then strongly stimulate the uterus to respond to the increase of Oxytocin. Although I work strongly on these points and others, you will still get a relaxing treatment as lots of calming techniques will be used. Although there are no guarantees that priming for labour techniques will get things moving, as with any other medical intervention or therapy, but I have seen good results with using these methods to help the onset of labour. For best results and to get a cumulative effect from the Reflexology I recommend between 1 -3 sessions around your due date.

Pregnancy (Pre Natal) Massage | £45.00 p/h

Pregnancy massage focuses on some of the unique physical needs of the mother-to-be and is much more than just a luxury. Massage is a wonderful solution to some of the temporary challenges of pregnancy. It provides relaxation by relieving stress on joints, easing pain, and helping with the postural changes associated with the progressing pregnancy. Massage therapy is also believed to stimulate the endocrine system, which helps to stabilise hormone levels and relieves nervous tension. I use a specific 100% pure organic massage oil, created by myself. This carrier oil, containing no essential oils, can be fantastic for reducing stretch marks and will help to keep the skin highly moisturised. Please note that clients should not have a massage during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy as massage increases circulation and the baby needs to establish itself in the womb. After this time I can tailor make my pre-natal massage around your needs. There are various positions you can lie/sit in at different stages of pregnancy to ensure you are always comfortable.

I am also qualified and insured to use essential oils during all my Maternity treatments which is an amazing addition to your treatments to help with many of the conditions and discomfort we feel during pregnancy.

Post Natal Massage | £45.00 p/h

Restoring your energy levels. Encouraging healing of the body and mind through the use of simple visualisation and breathing techniques. Helping to restore the abdomen to return to its’ pre-pregnancy condition. Helping to speed up the healing process. Helping to strengthen pelvic floor muscles. Regaining confidence with your body

Fertility Reflexology – Supporting Conception |£40.00 p/h

I have had extensive training in Reflexology for fertility,  and have been awarded Sally Earlams  “Certificate in Competency”.  I combine the amazing techniques I learnt with Sally along with my in- depth knowledge of Essential Oils to really enhance the fertility reflexology treatment..  Fertility reflexology, can help to improve a person’s fertility by positively directing the flow of energy where it is needed. Reflexology involves manipulating pressure points in the feet or hands in order to positively affect a corresponding area of the body. In essence, energy pathways are unblocked, allowing the energy to flow as it should.

There are points on the feet that correspond with the reproductive system in the body, and by manipulating these; the imbalances that can lead to problems conceiving can be corrected. Fertility reflexology can be helpful for a range of things that can impact on a person’s fertility, such as :

  • Polycystic ovaries
  • Cervical problems
  • Adhesions (more commonly known as scar tissue)
  • Pelvic inflammatory disease
  • Pre-menstrual syndrome
  • Hormonal imbalances
  • Blocked or damaged fallopian tubes
  • Stress related problems
  • Menstrual problems

Reflexology is actually fantastic for helping stress, which is very important if you are trying to increase your fertility and become pregnant. Stress can actually negatively affect your ability to conceive, whether it is worrying about becoming pregnant, stress from other family members or friends, workplace stress and so on. Reflexology is known for being calming and relaxing.
Reflexology is also great for balancing hormones, which can help with things such as encouraging regular menstruation, promoting ovulation, and relieving the symptoms of polycystic ovary syndrome and endometriosis.
